About the Sex Offender Map

It uses Google Maps for the map display and the state's online Sex Offender registries for the offender data. Currently only the State of Texas is accessible, but the plans are to add other states.

You enter your search zipcode in the Search box at the top of the page. The map will mark each offender's location wth the marker. Clicking on this marker will pop up a bubble containing information about the offender including a clickable name which links you to the offense information. The righthand side will list all the offenders in your search zipcode and clicking on their names will display their offense information or clicking elsewhere on their entry will scroll the map to their location.

Any offender whose icon is indicates that we had some problems finding their exact location. Either the address could not be found or needs some refinement. Currently, the location for these offenders is just mapped to the center of the zipcode boundary. Future versions may make a better attempt at trying to find the actual location of these offenders.
